Business and government leaders will gather at Hudson Valley Community
College's Bulmer Telecommunications Center, Wednesday, January 10, for a
breakfast meeting to discuss a new survey designed to pinpoint the
training needs of area businesses.
Approximately 50 academic, government and business leaders are expected
to attend the gathering, which will run from 8:30 to 10 a.m. in the
Bulmer Center meeting rooms.
The survey was developed in conjunction with Schenectady County
Community College and the New York State Department of Labor. It will be
distributed this winter to approximately 7,000 businesses in Albany,
Schenectady and Rensselaer counties. This will be one of the most
comprehensive business training surveys yet developed. Working in
conjunction with the Department of Labor, the two community colleges
hope to establish a regional database of employers' training needs, and
then work to meet those needs.
"We hope to get a comprehensive view of what types of training needs are
out there in the Capital Region," said Hudson Valley Community College
President John Buono. "The results should give our two community
colleges and the Department of Labor a real insight into the needs of
local businesses. Our goal is to work collaboratively to increase
workplace productivity and job satisfaction through education and
