Schenectady Resident Alicia Murray Honored at Hudson Valley Community College \"Photo

Alicia Murray
Alicia Murray of Schenectady, a 2005 graduate of the Hudson Valley Community College Early Childhood program, was recently honored by the college.

She was honored with the Early Childhood Department Award for Academic Excellence and Leadership. Murray, a President's List and Dean's List student while attending the college, plans to continue her education at Russell Sage College.

She was a member of Phi Theta Kappa, the international honor society for students at two year colleges, and was named to Who's Who Among Students at America's Junior Colleges.

Murray is active in the New Covenant Community Church and teaches dance at the Niskayuna Recreation Center. She works at Schenectady High School for the Schenectady Boys and Girls Club afterschool program.

Founded in 1953, Hudson Valley Community College offers more than 60 degree and certificate programs in four schools: Business; Engineering and Industrial Technologies; Health Science; and Liberal Arts and Sciences; and an Educational Opportunity Center for academic and career training. One of 30 community colleges in the State University of New York system, it has an enrollment of more than 12,000 students, and is known as a leader in distance learning initiatives and workforce training. Hudson Valley has more than 60,000 alumni.
