Cupolo Named Teacher Preparation Chairperson at Hudson Valley Community College\"Photo

Nancy T. Cupolo was recently named the chairperson of the Teacher Preparation Department at Hudson Valley Community College.

Cupolo served as the interim department chair during the 2003-2004 academic year and was recently appointed to the permanent post. She has more than 25 years of teaching experience in special education, elementary education and early childhood education. She has been on the Hudson Valley faculty since 1989 and previously taught at Russell Sage College.

She has a bachelor's of arts in Special Education and Elementary Education and a master's in science in Special Education, both from Russell Sage College.

Cupolo received the SUNY Chancellor's Award for Excellence in Teaching in 1999, which is one of the highest honors awarded to a SUNY faculty member.

Founded in 1953, Hudson Valley Community College offers more than 50 degree and certificate programs in four academic divisions: Business; Engineering and Industrial Technologies; Health Science; and Liberal Arts and Sciences; and an Educational Opportunity Center for academic and career training. One of 30 community colleges in the State University of New York system, it has an enrollment of more than 11,000 students, and is known as a leader in distance learning initiatives and workforce training. Hudson Valley has nearly 60,000 alumni.
