Gloversville Resident Sandra Yost Honored With Dental Hygiene Awards at Hudson Valley Community College \"Photo

Sandra Yost of Gloversville, a 2004 honor graduate of Hudson Valley Community College's Dental Hygiene program, recently was honored by the college.

Yost received the Gerard A. Ripp Memorial Award, which is given to her for outstanding leadership and excellent scholastic performance. The award is sponsored by the Hudson Mohawk chapter of the American College of Dentists. She also received the Proctor and Gamble Award for Excellence in Preventive Dentistry, given to a senior student who has demonstrated excellence in patient education and motivation toward good dental health.

Yost was a Dean's List or President's List student in each of her four semesters at the college. She was a member of Phi Theta Kappa, the international honor society for students at two-year colleges. She also was chosen for inclusion in Who's Who Among Students in American Junior Colleges and the National Dean's List. She plans to work as a hygienist at Cotugno Dental Associates in Gloversville following graduation.

Founded in 1953, Hudson Valley Community College offers more than 50 degree and certificate programs in four academic divisions: Business; Engineering and Industrial Technologies; Health Science; and Liberal Arts and Sciences; and an Educational Opportunity Center for academic and career training. One of 30 community colleges in the State University of New York system, it has an enrollment of more than 11,000 students each year, and is known as a leader in distance learning initiatives and workforce training. The college has nearly 60,000 alumni.
