Menands Resident Adjima S. Moreira Honored for Excellence in Engineering Science at Hudson Valley \"Photo

Adjima S. Moreira

Adjima S. Moreira of Menands, a 2004 graduate of the Engineering Science program at Hudson Valley Community College, has received the Garnett D. Baltimore Award, which is given to an outstanding member of the graduating class in the Engineering Science program.

Moreira will continue his education this fall at Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute, where he will study electrical engineering. He was named to the President's List at Hudson Valley in the Spring 2003 and Fall 2003 semesters, and was the recipient of a Second Chance Scholarship, which are awarded to students who show financial need and a willingness to work hard to pursue their dreams.

Founded in 1953, Hudson Valley Community College offers more than 50 degree and certification programs in four academic divisions: Liberal Arts and Sciences; Engineering and Industrial Technologies; Health Sciences; and Business; as well as programs run through the Educational Opportunity Center offering certification programs in workforce and academic preparation. One of 30 community colleges in the State University of New York system, it has an enrollment of more than 11,000 students, and it is known as a leader in distance learning initiatives and worker retraining. Hudson Valley has nearly 60,000 alumni.
