Altamont Resident Kira Delaney Honored With Dental Hygiene Award at Hudson Valley Community College \"Photo

Kira Delaney

Kira Delaney of Altamont, a 2004 graduate from the Hudson Valley Community College Dental Hygiene program, recently was honored by the college.

Delaney was awarded the HuFriedy Golden Scaler Award, which is given to a graduating student who has shown the greatest overall growth in clinical skills. Her future plans include working as a dental hygienist with migrant workers. She hopes to obtain a bachelor's degree in Spanish in the near future.

Founded in 1953, Hudson Valley Community College offers more than 50 degree and certificate programs in four academic divisions: Business; Engineering and Industrial Technologies; Health Science; and Liberal Arts and Sciences; and an Educational Opportunity Center for academic and career training. One of 30 community colleges in the State University of New York system, it has an enrollment of more than 11,000 students each year, and is known as a leader in distance learning initiatives and workforce training. The college has nearly 60,000 alumni.
