Fort Johnson Resident Jessica Zugzda Honored at Hudson Valley Community College \"Photo

Jessica Zugzda of Fort Johnson, a 2004 honors graduate of the Hudson Valley Community College Mortuary Science program, recently was honored by the college.

Zugzda received the Mortuary Science Award for Outstanding Achievement in Restorative Art. The award is given to an outstanding student in the college's Mortuary Science program. She was a member of the President's List and Dean's List while at Hudson Valley Community College. She also was included in Who's Who Among Students in America's Junior Colleges.

She plans to continue her career in the United States Navy.

Founded in 1953, Hudson Valley Community College offers more than 50 degree and certificate programs in four academic divisions: Business; Engineering and Industrial Technologies; Health Science; and Liberal Arts and Sciences; and an Educational Opportunity Center for academic and career training. One of 30 community colleges in the State University of New York system, it has an enrollment of more than 11,000 students each year, and is known as a leader in distance learning initiatives and workforce training. The college has nearly 60,000 alumni.
