Patricia Hyland Named To State Licensure Board

Patricia Hyland of Clifton Park, department chairperson for the Respiratory Care and Paramedic departments at Hudson Valley Community College, was recently appointed to a five-year term on the New York State Education Department Licensure Board for Respiratory Therapy.
Hyland, who was appointed to the post by the Board of Regents, has been a department chairperson at Hudson Valley since 1988. She will serve on the statewide board, which deals with licensure issues for the state's respiratory therapists, through November 2008.
Hyland received her bachelor of science degree in Cardiorespiratory Science from SUNY Upstate Medical in Syracuse and her master's in education from the University of Phoenix, with a focus on distance learning.
Founded in 1953, Hudson Valley Community College offers more than 50 degree and certification programs in four academic divisions: Liberal Arts and Sciences; Engineering and Industrial Technologies; Health Sciences; and Business; as well as programs run through the Educational Opportunity Center offering certification programs in workforce and academic preparation. One of 30 community colleges in the State University of New York system, it has an enrollment of more than 11,000 students, and it is known as a leader in distance learning initiatives and worker retraining. Hudson Valley has graduated more than 55,000 students.
