On Thursday, October 16, the Hudson Valley Community College athletic department will add seven new members into its Hall of Fame at a dinner and ceremony in the McDonough Sports Complex. The event, which begins at 5 p.m., will feature a renovated Hall of Fame, displays of memorabilia and a silent auction.

Four former student-athletes will be inducted at the Oct. 16 event: bowler Mark Ray '88 of Latham; football and baseball player Mark Galuski '81 of Troy; softball star Mary Nagle '95 of Saratoga Springs; and three-sport standout Jenifer Baldrey Nichols '89 of Averill Park. New inductees also include former volleyball and women's basketball coach Paul Bishop of Troy, former men's basketball coach Daniel Hytko of Cohoes and the 1992-93 women's basketball team.

In conjunction with the Hall of Fame event and the college's 50th anniversary celebration, Hudson Valley is introducing the Viking Club, a fundraising program developed to support Hudson Valley athletics and its student-athletes.

In the 2002-03 academic year, Hudson Valley teams won 59 percent of their contests. The college's softball team won the Mountain Valley Conference and finished the season ranked 10th in the country. The men's soccer team completed its season ranked 14th in the nation, while the men's and women's bowling squads finished sixth and fourth, respectively, at the NJCAA championship tournament.
