Hudson Valley Community College's Kucij Named to Statewide Board for Training and Employment

John Kucij of Schenectady, Interim Director of the Workforce Development Institute at Hudson Valley Community College, has been elected to the board of directors of the New York Association of Training and Employment Professionals (NYATEP).

He was elected to serve for a term of office through June 2001.

NYATEP promotes, enhances, and serves the interests of local workforce investment agencies and system partners in New York State. The organization represents the 33 Workforce Investment Areas who administer the federal Workforce Investment Act (WIA) programs, as well as other federal, state and local workforce development initiatives across the state.

Kucij has worked at Hudson Valley Community College since 1984, and has served as interim director of the Workforce Development Institute since 1999. He previously served as director of the college's Public Training Programs.

Hudson Valley Community has provided training to the companies and organizations of the Capital Region for more than 15 years. The Workforce Development Institute was established by combining the private and public sector training elements at the college. The Institute offers a variety of technology, customer service, team-building and management training at its Troy campus, its Malta Commons location and at business and organization workplaces around the region. Last year, more than 11,300 employees of businesses and organizations made use of WDI training.

Hudson Valley Community College offers more than 50 degree and certification programs in four academic divisions: Liberal Arts and Sciences; Engineering and Industrial Technologies; Health Sciences; and Business; as well as programs run through the Educational Opportunity Center offering certification programs in workforce and academic preparation.
