Light-up Wine Bottle Painting Class
Scientists have linked creative expression to overall wellness, brain stimulation and stress reduction. Art also enhances cognitive abilities, stimulates imagination, sharpens problem solving skills and so much more! Art in Mind is a wellness studio that emphasizes the powerful effects that art has on the soul. Join the experienced educators from Art in Mind Creative Wellness studio in learning how to paint a glass wine bottle that will light up to beautifully glow. You will be walked through the steps of painting birch and pine trees on a blue wine bottle. The class will include painting on a blue wine bottle, a battery powered cork with light string attached to insert into bottle, an extra set of batteries to take with you, and an experienced, art-educated instructor to walk you through each step. All supplies are included and no experience is necessary. Students must withdraw by 11/20 for a full refund.

Basic Watercolor
Join us to discover your own unique ways of using transparent watercolor paint, from free experimentation to a more controlled approach. Explore mixing and layering colors, while observing flowers, still life, and landscape. Learn color theory, pencil sketching exercises, composition, drawing directly with a brush, and planning areas of wash. Everyone is welcome, first-time and long-time painters.Please bring whatever materials you may already have or purchase the following supplies: a pan set of transparent watercolors, a pointed round watercolor brush approximately size 6 (look for handle shorter than that of an oil painting brush), a 9" x 12" pad of 140# watercolor paper, pencil, masking tape, two water containers, and two pieces of cardboard (slightly larger than size of paper).

Abstract Painting
This class is for individuals interested in the process of abstract painting. Specific elements and principles will be introduced, covered and utilized pertaining to abstraction. We will go over the safety, materials, process and creative possibilities of oil painting and abstraction. You will create work that includes specific elements, such as various types of composition, layering, mark making, imagery and narratives that are related to abstraction.

Beginning Encaustics
This workshop is for individuals interested in the process of encaustic painting. Encaustic painting is hot wax painting, during which heated beeswax is pigmented and layered. In this class we will go over the safety, materials, process and creative possibilities of this medium. You will create encaustic pieces that include the layering of encaustic pigments, image transfer, texture and more. Course fee includes $40 materials fee for supplies provided by the instructor.

Glass Etching
Have you ever wanted to learn how to personalize your glassware? Together, we will learn how to etch words on glass surfaces. We will practice on glasses and mason jars that you can take home that day. Christmas Cards
It's never too early to start on those holiday cards. This will get you started on your holiday stamping. For each design, you will make two: one for you to keep and one to send. Sewing 101
In this class, you will learn the basics of sewing, including the differences between threads and fabrics, and more. The instructor will also teach you anything you want to know about your sewing machine. Even if you have sewn before, you will still learn something from this class. Knitting for Beginners
With only two stiches you can create endless designs. This class will make a sampler neck scarf and ribbed hat using the garter stitch (knit every row), the stockinet stitch (knit a row, purl a row) and ribbing. Learn to cast stiches into the needles and bind off the end row of stitches. You will find this relaxing, creative class fun whether you knit for yourself or for someone else. Knitting needles and yarn will be provided at the first class. Class fee includes $7 materials fee.

Knitting for Beginners - Level Two
Make a lace pattern and cable stitch hat using a circular needle and double pointed needles. Join us if you already know the basics of casting on and the knit and purl stitches. This class will build on your skills while teaching you to follow directions/ patterns. You will need to bring to class one skein of 3.5 or 4 ounce knitting-worsted, four-ply (medium weight) yarn. Choose any color yarn you like. As a tip, do not choose black or another dark color because they are very difficult to work on at night. Course fee includes a $10 materials fee for the needles, which will be supplied at the first class.

Crochet for Beginners
In this class, you will learn the basic crochet stitches, including single, double and half double, by creating a sampler scarf using various popular pattern designs. You will also learn the popcorn stitch, cluster stitch and others while learning to follow the directions of a pattern. Crochet uses one hook so is easier to do for some of us (even if you are left handed!) After completing this class you will be able to make blankets, hats, purses, and more. Hook and yarn will be provided at the first class. Class fee includes a $7 materials fee.

Crochet for Beginners - Level Two
Create a 20 inch striped Christmas Stocking! A variety of stitch patterns will be used for the stripes. Following the directions is the focus on this class while changing colors and stitches, and making the heel and toe. You will need to bring to class two or three colors of your choice of four-ply medium weight yarn and size G or H hook. Knowledge of the basic crochet stitches (single crochet, and double crochet) are necessary for this class.

Hearth Basket
Learn to weave this large rectangular basket and add a handmade treasure to your home. It measures 12" high by 18" long and 14" wide. This classic basket is woven on a wooden "D" handle with all-natural reed. This is a great beginner basket to learn all the basics of basket weaving. Course fee includes $32 materials fee.

Riff Raff Holiday Happening Basket
Have fun weaving this large rectangular basket that measures 12" long by 8" wide and 14" tall with the handle. Woven with various sizes of natural, dyed reed, seagrass and a specially prepared 2" wide fabric weaver with a holiday theme on a wooden "D" handle. There are various fabric weavers to choose from with Christmas and winter prints on them. Course fee includes $30 materials fee.

Shoebox Basket
Learn to weave this medium sized rectangular basket woven with natural and dyed reed on a wooden "D" handle. After the basket is finished you will embellish it with ash curls to give it a distinctive look. Basket measure 13" long by 6" wide and 8" tall with the handle. Course fee includes $28 materials fee.

Footed Yarn Basket
Learn to weave this square-to-round large basket, which is useful for much more than yarn! This basket is woven with natural and dyed reed and has two hand-carved oak handles. After finishing, you put the "feet" on to make it sit up off the ground. This basket is 16" tall with the feet and 12" wide. Course fee includes $33 materials fee.

Criss-Cross Applesauce Basket
Here is this semester's challenging basket. You weave a square base, unweave some stakes at each corner, and you have a cross shape. Then, weave the basket from the cross shape to the top, where it becomes round. This basket is woven with natural and dyed reed, with overlays, and finished off with leather handles. Course fee includes $27 materials fee.
