March 15, 2006

The 10th Annual Viking Challenge in Trivial Pursuit, held on Wednesday, March 15, 2006, proved the largest in Hudson Valley’s history as 16 area high schools fielded teams for the fast paced, computerized trivia game based on the popular board game.

After two rounds of competition that lasted more than three hours, Scotia-Glenville High School earned the top prize, the second time in three years the school has won the competition. As a result, students Mike Heise, Melanie Shank and Dan Wawrzyniak earned $500 scholarships to Hudson Valley, a computer and printer for their school and other prizes. LaSalle Institute, represented by Alexander Dean, Conor Noonan and David Seitz, finished second and Clayton A. Bouton-Voorheesville High School, represented by Kevin Bub, Andrew Dubay, and Stephen Kohler, finished third.

Other participating teams were: Academy of the Holy Names, Albany High School, Averill Park High School, Berlin High School, Cobleskill-Richmondville High School, Lansingburgh High School, New Lebanon High School, Schalmont High School, Schenectady High School, Schuylerville High School, South Colonie High School, Stillwater High School and Troy High School.
