Students Help Build Home for Habitat for Humanity of Schenectady County
April 5, 2006
Students from Hudson Valley Community College’s Construction Technology program work on walls they built for a Habitat for Humanity home. The class project is the result of a partnership between the college and Habitat for Humanity of Schenectady County, where students gain first-hand experience in building a home while the organization receives free labor.
The walls built by these students were transported to a building site on Schenectady Street in Schenectady, where Habitat for Humanity volunteers used them to construct the building frame for a three-bedroom home. Hudson Valley and Habitat for Humanity plan to continue the partnership, working together to help build a home for a low-income family each year.
