Renowned "Funny Car" Driver To Speak At Hudson Valley's Nov. 17 Open House

TROY, NY - Bobby Martin, driver of the CAPAvenger, a "Funny Car" that goes from 0 to 245 miles per hour in 5.82 seconds, will speak to prospective Hudson Valley students and their families.
WHEN:9 a.m. to 1 p.m., Saturday, November 17, 2001. Martin will be available to meet with the media from 1 to 1:30 p.m. at Hudson Valley's Bulmer Telecommunications Center.
WHERE:In the Bulmer Telecommunications Center at Hudson Valley, 80 Vandenburgh Avenue, Troy NY.
WHAT:Martin will attend Hudson Valley's open house, which is open to anyone interested in part- or full-time study at the college. Martin, who races cars and serves as a motivational speaker, will meet and greet the attendees and answer questions.
WHY: Martin's CAPAvenger is sponsored by CAP (the College Automotive Program, which also is know as the Chrysler/Dealer Apprenticeship program) and he speaks regularly about the benefits of CAP, which is offered at just three colleges in New York State, including Hudson Valley. Martin strongly encourages young people to enter the automotive industry, and CAP trains students to work for DaimlerChrysler dealerships. The job placement rate upon graduation from the program approaches 100 percent.
