Hudson Valley Community College Offering New Health Care Management Course Sequence

The School of Business at Hudson Valley Community College is offering a sequence of three-credit courses for individuals interested in the health care management field, beginning in January.

The courses are:

  • Introduction to Health Care Management, an overview of the health care system in the United States. The course explores the different models of providing care, and reviews the variety of legal and ethical issues involved in health care management. The class is scheduled to meet Fridays from noon to 3 p.m.
  • Ambulatory Care Management, which explores the management aspects of the different health care settings, including acute care facilities, mental health facilities, nursing homes and physician's offices. The class is scheduled to meet Monday evenings from 6 to 9 p.m.

Those already involved in patient care may also benefit from the courses.

Each class is $294 for New York State residents. Spring semester courses begin January 14, 2002. For more information, contact the School of Business at 629-7225.

Hudson Valley Community College offers more than 50 degree and certification programs in four academic divisions: Liberal Arts and Sciences; Engineering and Industrial Technologies; Health Sciences; and Business; as well as programs run through the Educational Opportunity Center offering certification programs in workforce and academic preparation.
