Wynantskill Resident Vonnie Vannier Receives President’s Award At Hudson Valley Community College

Vonnie Vannier of Wynantskill, a faculty member at Hudson Valley Community College, was recently honored with the President’s Award for Excellence in College Service.
Vannier joined the faculty in 2001 as an adjunct instructor in the English, Foreign Languages and English as a Second Language Department. In 2005, she became a full-time faculty member and was granted tenure and promotion to assistant professor in 2009. In addition to her regular teaching duties, Vonnie serves as the faculty liaison to the Center for Effective Teaching. She was co-chair of the most recent campus-wide steering committee for the Middle States Commission on Higher Education self-study and reaccreditation process.
Five other faculty and staff members were named recipients of the President’s Award for Excellence for 2014. The award is given to those who have shown exemplary service to the college and its students. Honorees are nominated by students and colleagues.
Founded in 1953, Hudson Valley Community College offers more than 75 degree and certificate programs in four schools: Business; Engineering and Industrial Technologies; Health Science; and Liberal Arts and Sciences; and an Educational Opportunity Center for academic and career training. One of 30 community colleges in the State University of New York system, it has an enrollment of nearly 13,000 students and is known as a leader in distance learning initiatives and workforce training.
