College Offers New York State Coaching Certification Courses

Hudson Valley Community College’s Physical Education Department offers the core courses for coaching certification for those wishing to coach interscholastic sports in New York.
The state mandates that all who wish to become a head coach at the modified, junior varsity or varsity level be certified and complete a series of core courses, which include "Philosophy, Principles and Organization of Athletics in Education," "Health Sciences as Applied to Coaching" and "Theory and Techniques of Coaching," as well as First Aid/CPR. Hudson Valley offers all of the core courses in an online format. Courses are taught by college faculty members.
