Sodergren of Delmar Appointed Interim Department Chair of Engineering and Math Departments at Hudson Valley

Deanne Sodergren of Delmar has been appointed interim department chair for Mathematics and Science and Engineering Science at Hudson Valley Community College.
Sodergren was awarded the President's Award for Excellence in Teaching from the college in the spring of 2001. She has taught in the Mathematics and Science Department at Hudson Valley since 1981. Sodergren received her master's degree from UAlbany in 1981 and her bachelor's degree from Indiana University of PA in 1963.
At Hudson Valley Community College, students benefit from easy access to dedicated faculty, small class sizes, and excellent laboratory and computer facilities. Hudson Valley's Mathematics and Science and Engineering Science programs also offer a variety of flexible class options, including evening classes. Students in the program have transferred to such prestigious colleges as Cornell University, Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute, MIT, Rochester Institute of Technology, Union College and Clarkson University.
Hudson Valley Community College, located in Troy, offers more than 50 degree and certificate programs in four academic divisions: Business; Engineering and Industrial Technologies; Health Science; and Liberal Arts and Sciences; and an Educational Opportunity Center for academic and career training. One of 30 community colleges in the State University of New York system, it has an enrollment of more than 9,000 students each year, and is known as a leader in distance learning initiatives and workforce training.
