Students and Employees: Sync Your Password Now
On Saturday, Aug. 10, 2013, the system which authenticates a person’s identity when logging in to Hudson Valley Community College computer systems is changing from LDAP to Active Directory (AD).
All faculty, staff and students must synchronize their password in order to use the system once the transition to Active Directory is complete. Use the following link to perform the synchronization: https://its.hvcc.edu/pwsync/
This Web link will first take you through the Hudson Valley Community College authentication login. The next page will be pre-filled with your current username. Enter your password again to complete this synchronization.
If you complete the sync process before Aug. 10, once the transition is complete you will not need to take any further actions and you will retain access to Hudson Valley Community College computer systems.
If you do not complete the sync process before Aug. 10, you will not be able to login to Hudson Valley Community College computer systems until this process is complete. Once you have completed the sync process, you will regain access to Hudson Valley Community College computer systems. Go to https://its.hvcc.edu/pwsync/ to complete the process.
The online password change link has also been modified to keep your password synchronized with AD should you decide to change it.
After the transition, returning students and employees will notice some minor differences when they first login. Here are some details that may be different when you first login after Aug. 10:
- Students and Employees: Some items such as wallpaper and browser history may not be immediately available. These items will be in a location within your H: drive where they can be retrieved and reapplied. If you are an employee and need assistance with this, you can open a ticket with ITS in advance. Students should e-mail email@example.com for assistance.
- Employees: ITS will be creating tickets for identified users of Microsoft Outlook and the Zimbra Outlook Connector. If, prior to Aug. 10, a ticket has not been created for you, please open a ticket with ITS to make sure we have reconfigured your Outlook settings to accommodate Zimbra after the change.
Updates and reminders to complete the synchronization process will be continuous.
