FOR RELEASE: Immediate, Tuesday, October 2, 2001
The media is invited to an open house
for Hudson Valley Community College's Guenther Enrollment Services Center
at 4 p.m. on Wednesday, October 3. Tours and refreshments will
be offered, and college officials and dignitaries will be on hand to discuss
the many benefits of the building.
Strategically located at the center of the
Troy campus, the $6.2 million, 55,000-square-foot Guenther Enrollment Services
Center is a hub for incoming students, providing them with "one-stop shopping"
for the enrollment process.
The renovation of Guenther Hall into the Guenther
Enrollment Services Center required gutting a 1950s era administration
building and turning it into a contemporary student-focused service center.
Designed by the architect firm of Architecture + and constructed by U.W.
Marx, both Troy companies, the building's distinguished roof and main entrance
demand attention from students and staff alike.
Best of all, the Admissions Office, the Registrar,
the Financial Aid Office and the Testing Office are just a few of the resources
that have relocated to this facility, allowing students to complete the
entire enrollment process in one place.
Hudson Valley Community College offers more
than 50 degree and certification programs in four academic divisions: Liberal
Arts and Sciences; Engineering and Industrial Technologies; Health Sciences;
and Business; as well as programs run through the Educational Opportunity
Center offering certification programs in workforce and academic preparation.
One of 30 community colleges in the State University of New York system,
it has an enrollment of more than 9,000 students each year, and is known
as a leader in distance learning initiatives and worker retraining.
