KERHONKSON

Heather Broekema from Kerhonkson honored at Hudson Valley Community College

Kerhonkson resident Heather L. Broekema was recently honored for academic excellence at Hudson Valley Community College.

Broekema was the recipient of the The Gertrude L. Dourdounas Certificate of Achievement Award, which honors one of the top graduating students from the college's Medical Imaging programs. The academic program is part of the college's School of Health Sciences.

LATHAM

Zainab Ali from Latham honored at Hudson Valley Community College

Latham resident Zainab Ali was recently honored for academic excellence at Hudson Valley Community College.

Ali was the recipient of the RPI Joseph H. Smith Jr. Award, which honors a top Math Science or Engineering Science student who plans to transfer to RPI to continue his or her studies.

Jack Howson from Latham honored at Hudson Valley Community College

Latham resident Jack Howson was recently honored for academic excellence at Hudson Valley Community College.

Howson was the recipient of the Robert Hooke Award in Cellular Biology, which honors a top student studying cell biology. The academic program is part of the college's School of Liberal Arts and Sciences.

Knibbs was the recipient of the Threads Writing Award, which is given to an outstanding student studying in the English, Modern Languages and English As A Second Language program. The award honors a student who has made an outstanding contribution to the college's literary journal, Threads.

Dogra was the recipient of the Northeast Ventilator Respiratory Care Student of the Year Award, which is given to an outstanding student in the Cardiorespiratory and Emergency Medicine program. Hernandez s also was the recipient of the SUNY Chancellor's Award for Student Excellence, which is a SUNY system-wide honor given to an outstanding graduating student, as well as the recipient of the HVCC President's Award for Outstanding Achievement in Community Service.
