Nearly 300 community members attended a job fair hosted by the Capital District Educational Opportunity Center (EOC) on Thursday, May 19. Representatives from thirty-five area businesses attended the event in search of candidates to fill employment vacancies. Local colleges including Hudson Valley Community College, Bryant & Stratton and Schenectady County Community College were also on hand to answer questions for individuals interested in furthering their education.
Each May the EOC hosts a job fair as another means to assist students in finding employment. This was the first year the event was open to the public. "Given the economic climate, we felt it was important to extend an invitation to the community. We were thrilled with the turnout and look forward to hosting similar community events in the future," said Dr. Lucille Marion, Vice President of Hudson Valley Community College and Executive Director of the EOC.
The Capital District Educational Opportunity Center, a division of Hudson Valley Community College, offers free academic and vocational training to eligible New York State residents who 16 years and older. Registrations are accepted on a continuous basis. For further information about the EOC and its programs, call 273-1900 daily.
