James Williams is Named Department Chair for Accounting and Marketing at Hudson Valley Community College Photo Available

James J. Williams, a business instructor and academic services coordinator at the post-secondary level, has been named chair of the Accounting and Marketing department in the School of Business at Hudson Valley Community College. He brings with him more than ten years combined business teaching and private sector experience.

In addition to overseeing the Accounting and Marketing department at Hudson Valley, Williams will head the School of Business Advising Center for students. He will act as the representative of the department to the administration and outside constituencies, and will advocate for the mission of the department to best meet the needs of students at Hudson Valley Community College.

Williams comes to Hudson Valley from the Community College of Vermont, where he has taught business subjects since 2007 and has overseen the Computer Science and Math department since 2009. Previously, he was an adjunct instructor in business and marketing at Castleton State College in Castleton, VT and Southern Vermont College in Bennington, VT.

An investment advisor, Williams is the owner of Williams Financial Management, LLC, based in North Bennington, VT. He received his master of business administration from the University of Massachusetts and a B.S. in business from Southern Vermont College.

Founded in 1953, Hudson Valley Community College offers more than 70 degree and certificate programs in four schools: Business; Engineering and Industrial Technologies; Health Sciences; and Liberal Arts and Sciences; and an Educational Opportunity Center for academic and career training. One of 30 community colleges in the State University of New York system, it has an enrollment of more than 14,000 students, and is known as a leader in distance learning initiatives and workforce training. Hudson Valley has more than 65,000 alumni.
