The Hudson Valley Community College Athletics Department has been recognized as a finalist for the 2009-10 Region III Sportsmanship Award. Institutions within Region III are chosen and judged on exhibition of sportsmanship and commitment to excellence in intercollegiate athletics.
Hudson Valley student-athletes, coaches and staff remained eligible for this award during the 2009-10 athletic year by not receiving any ejections, by not demonstrating unsportsmanlike behavior and by competing at a high level throughout the year.
"I want to thank all coaches, student- athletes and staff members for their commitment to sportsmanship and excellence in intercollegiate athletics on a daily basis. Your consistent dedication and execution of this department's philosophy has directly resulted in the Hudson Valley Community College Athletics Department being chosen as a finalist for the 2009-2010 Region III Sportsmanship Award," stated Kristan Pelletier, director of athletics at Hudson Valley."With many new coaches and employees, and several veteran coaches and employees, all of you provide very fine examples of what sportsmanship and excellence in athletics should be."
Hudson Valley began its 2010-11 athletic year as the men's soccer team played at home Thursday, Sept. 2 against Herkimer County Community College.
