Hudson Valley Community College Student Rion-Rodewald of Greenwich Wins Early Childhood Education Award

Rebecca Rion-Rodewald of Greenwich, a recent graduate of Hudson Valley Community College, was awarded the college's Early Childhood Award for Excellence in Teaching. Rion-Rodewald plans to pursue a bachelor's degree in elementary education and art therapy.
Currently, Hudson Valley's Teacher Preparation Department offers an Associate in Applied Science degree in early childhood. In the future, the department will offer programs in elementary, secondary and special education, as well as course work for recertification of teachers and a program for teacher assistants. All programs are transferable to four-year institutions, and save students tremendously on costs
Hudson Valley Community College, located in Troy, offers more than 50 degree and certificate programs in four academic divisions: Business; Engineering and Industrial Technologies; Health Science; and Liberal Arts and Sciences; and an Educational Opportunity Center for academic and career training. One of 30 community colleges in the State University of New York system, it has an enrollment of more than 9,000 students each year, and is known as a leader in distance learning initiatives and workforce training.
