Rachel Matzkin Kimmelblatt formerly of West Hartford, Conn., has been appointed to the position of chief development officer for Hudson Valley Community College's Foundation. A certified fund raising executive, she comes to Hudson Valley with eight years of higher education development experience.

Kimmelblatt's appointment is the result of a national search. After a recent move with her family to the Capital Region, she officially took over her duties in August.

In her most recent position as director of major gifts at the University of Connecticut Foundation, Inc., Kimmelblatt raised more than $550,000 in major and planned gifts in her first five months. Prior to that, she held the position of senior development officer at the University of Hartford, directly raising more than $3 million and closing more than 50 major gifts.

"I personally connect with Hudson Valley Community College's mission of providing a high-quality, affordable and accessible education to a diverse community of non-traditional students," she said. "I look forward to working with those who are passionate about community colleges, including the strong and successful alumni community, and translating that passion into philanthropic investments."

She is a graduate of the University at Albany and received her master's from Baruch College/City University of New York School of Public Affairs. Kimmelblatt is a member of the Association of Fundraising Professionals.
