With one of its largest-ever incoming classes expected this fall, Hudson Valley Community College wants students and the community to be aware that traffic backups are likely on the main access roads to campus.

Traffic backups that stretch down Morrison Avenue in Troy and across the Troy-Menands Bridge are not uncommon during the first weeks of school. Delays should be anticipated beginning the morning of August 27.

School administrators advise incoming students to leave earlier to arrive on time for classes, or to car pool with a fellow student or Hudson Valley employee. Morning commuters traveling near Hudson Valley Community College may wish to seek an alternative route at the beginning of the semester.

With construction continuing on a minor league baseball stadium on campus, the college will open up some new areas for student parking when the fall semester begins August 27.

Additional student parking will be located in the front of the Marvin Library, which may be accessed off South Drive. Parking also will be allowed in front of the Bulmer Telecommunications Center and along South Drive, one of two main entrances to the campus from Vandenburgh Ave. The loss of parking spaces due to construction of the 4,500-seat baseball stadium will be offset when the facility is complete.
