Helen Beebe of Troy, a recent graduate of Hudson Valley Community College, was awarded the college's Human Services award. Beebe graduated with honors from the Human Services Department at Hudson Valley. She plans to attend UAlbany.
Faculty members in the Human Services department nominate students for the Human Services award, and then jointly select one outstanding student. Selection criteria considered for the award include academics, values, exemplary field work and service to other students and the college community. One of her instructors, Dr. Deighan, said about Helen, "She displays a fine balance between her keen sense of advocacy and passion for clients' rights, blended with a strong clinical understanding of human development."
