Eagle Bridge Resident Wins Academic Award

Shawn Smith, an Eagle Bridge resident and recent Hudson Valley Community College graduate, was recently presented with the SUNY Institute of Technology at Utica-Rome Medal for Academic Excellence.
The SUNY Institute of Technology at Utica-Rome Medal is awarded to a graduate who has demonstrated outstanding academic achievement, achieving at least a 3.49 GPA. It is not a requirement that the recipient be transferring to Utica-Rome or any other institution.
Smith graduated with honors from Hudson Valley's Chemical Dependency Counseling program. He plans to attend Word of Life Bible Institute next.
Hudson Valley Community College, located in Troy, offers more than 50 degree and certificate programs in four academic divisions; Business; Engineering and Industrial Technologies; Health Sciences; and Liberal Arts and Sciences. One of 30 community colleges in the State University of New York system, Hudson Valley has an enrollment of more than 9,000 students each year, and is known as a leader in distance learning initiatives and worker retraining.
