Kinderhook resident honored at Hudson Valley Community College

Rhonda Ellis of Kinderhook, a graduate of the Dental Hygiene program at Hudson Valley Community College, was recently honored with two major awards. Ellis was given the Gerard A. Ripp Memorial Award from the Hudson Mohawk Chapter of the American College of Dentists and the Albert H. Stevenson Award from the Dental Society of the State of New York. She was chosen for both awards based on her overall excellence in theory and clinical technique.
Ellis graduated from the Hudson Valley Community College Dental Hygiene program in the spring. She plans to continue her career as a dental hygienist.
Hudson Valley Community College offers more than 50 degree and certification programs in four academic divisions: Liberal Arts and Sciences; Engineering and Industrial Technologies; Health Sciences; and Business; as well as programs run through the Educational Opportunities Center offering certification programs in workforce and academic preparation. One of 30 community colleges in the State University of New York system, it has an enrollment of more than 9,000 students each year, and is known as a leader in distance learning initiatives and worker retraining.
