South Bethlehem Student Kristin Deso Honored by Hudson Valley Community College

Kristin Deso of South Bethlehem, a 2009 graduate of Hudson Valley Community College’s Teacher Preparation program, was honored by the college with a departmental award.
Deso received the Teacher Preparation Department Award for Academic Excellence and Leadership, which is given to an outstanding graduate of the Teacher Preparation program. An honors graduate and President's list student, Deso plans to study childhood education with a concentration in special education at The College of Saint Rose. She served as a peer tutor at Hudson Valley and has volunteered for many local organizations, including Equinox, Albany Medical Center and the National Society of Leadership and Success.
Founded in 1953, Hudson Valley Community College offers more than 70 associate’s degree and certificate programs in four schools: Business; Engineering and Industrial Technologies; Health Science; and Liberal Arts and Sciences; and also sponsors an Educational Opportunity Center for academic and career training. One of 30 community colleges in the State University of New York system, it has an enrollment of more than 12,000 students, and is known as a leader in distance learning initiatives and workforce training. Hudson Valley has more than 60,000 alumni.
