Poestenkill Student Michelle Theresa Burton Honored by Hudson Valley Community College

Michelle Theresa Burton of Poestenkill, a 2009 graduate of Hudson Valley Community College’s Marketing program, was honored by the college with a departmental award.
Burton was honored for Excellence in Marketing, which is given to an outstanding graduate of the Marketing program. Burton, a President's List student each of her four semesters at Hudson Valley, plans to pursue a bachelor's degree. A recipient of the Phi Theta Kappa Distinguished Person Award, she also is a member of the Entrepeneurs Club and served as a program assistant for the Education Opportunity Program. In 2008, she founded Plan-On-It, a wedding/event planning business.
Founded in 1953, Hudson Valley Community College offers more than 70 associate’s degree and certificate programs in four schools: Business; Engineering and Industrial Technologies; Health Science; and Liberal Arts and Sciences; and also sponsors an Educational Opportunity Center for academic and career training. One of 30 community colleges in the State University of New York system, it has an enrollment of more than 12,000 students, and is known as a leader in distance learning initiatives and workforce training. Hudson Valley has more than 60,000 alumni.
