Raneri Named to Statewide Board for Community College Trustees

George J. Raneri, the secretary to the Hudson Valley Community College Board of Trustees and a longtime former board member, has been named to the board of directors of the New York Community College Trustees of the State University of New York (NYCCT).

NYCCT is a voluntary nonprofit consortium of community college trustees established to strengthen the effectiveness of the state's community college trustees as an active force in the development and implementation of public policy impacting community colleges. The organization represents appointed board members who govern the 30 community colleges in the State University of New York system and the six community colleges in the City University of New York system.
Raneri recently was honored by the NYCCT with the Alice Holloway Young Distinguished Service Award, which is given to a board member who continues his service to the institution after leaving the board. Raneri, a retired educator and school administrator, served from 1981 to 1998 as a member of the college board of trustees. He has served as secretary to the board since 2000.
Founded in 1953, Hudson Valley Community College offers more than 70 associate's degree and certificate programs in four schools: Business; Engineering and Industrial Technologies; Health Science; and Liberal Arts and Sciences; and also sponsors an Educational Opportunity Center for academic and career training. One of 30 community colleges in the State University of New York system, it has an enrollment of more than 12,000 students, and is known as a leader in distance learning initiatives and workforce training. Hudson Valley has more than 65,000 alumni.
