The Hudson Valley Community College Foundation announced today that Rose & Kiernan in partnership with Travelers Insurance have committed $10,000 over the next five years to establish a new scholarship for students in the college's School of Business for students interested in the insurance industry.

John F. Murray, Jr., President and CEO of Rose & Kiernan, stated, "We are pleased to support Hudson Valley Community College students and the insurance industry in educating the next generation of insurance professionals. This program offers outstanding career opportunities to graduates who will perpetuate the insurance industry. It is certainly a win for all of us."

Two $1,000 scholarships will be awarded annually and be awarded for the first time in December 2009 to matriculated or incoming students who are enrolled and seeking an associate's degree in Business Administration with an option in Insurance.

"Hudson Valley students are so appreciative of scholarship support, and establishing a scholarship fund is a wonderful way to ensure a pipeline into this important career path," said Hudson Valley Community College President Drew Matonak.

Anyone interested in establishing a scholarship can call the Hudson Valley Community College Foundation at (518) 629-8012 or visit www.hvcc.edu/scholarships.

The Hudson Valley Community College Foundation is a not-for-profit charitable corporation formed in 1983 to philanthropically support the college's mission.
