Kristan Pelletier, a women's basketball coach and athletics professional, has been named Assistant Athletic Director at Hudson Valley Community College. She is the first female to hold this position in the college's 55-year history and brings with her five years of coaching and sports marketing experience.

Pelletier will work with the Director of Athletics on program promotion, public relations and supervision/management of all athletic and recreational facilities at Hudson Valley Community College. Pelletier will also coordinate on-campus and off-campus practice schedules for all intercollegiate athletic teams and train and supervise student work staff.

Pelletier comes to Hudson Valley from AYCO-Goldman Sachs in Albany, NY where she was a Financial Consultant. Prior to that, she worked for The College of Saint Rose where she was the Assistant Women's Basketball Coach. Pelletier was also previously the Director of Basketball Operations at the University at Albany.

On her unusual career path, Pelletier said, "I had been involved with sports for many years and was fortunate enough to be an assistant coach at Saint Rose while I was pursuing my MBA full-time. Once I completed my MBA, I was offered a position with Goldman Sachs and was able to work for them while I continued coaching. I always intended to pursue a career in athletics, but I wanted to find the right fit. On working at Hudson Valley, Pelletier said, "Hudson Valley Community College is the right fit for many reasons - the top-notch athletic department and facilities, the talented student-athletes, the quality of coaches, as well as the administrators that are members of the Hudson Valley community. The reputation of Hudson Valley academically and the commitment to developing the ‘student-athlete' has led to tremendous success both athletically and academically. I am looking forward to being a part of the continued success, and supporting the coaches, student-athletes, and administration at Hudson Valley."

Pelletier received her BA and MBA from The College of Saint Rose. She is also a certified personal trainer and nutrition adviser by the American Fitness Training of Athletics. Pelletier is an accomplished basketball player, appearing twice in the NCAA Division II Sweet 16 and a 2006 inductee into the Bishop Maginn High School Athletic Hall of Fame.

Hudson Valley Community College offers more than 70 associates degree and certificate programs in four schools: Business; Engineering and Industrial Technologies; Health Sciences; and Liberal Arts and Sciences. One of 30 community colleges in the State University of New York system, Hudson Valley has an enrollment of more than 12,000 students, and is known as a leader in distance learning initiatives and workforce training. Hudson Valley has more than 64,000 alumni.
