Daniel A. Lanka, a non-profit business professional with six years experience working with 510(c) (3) associations and foundations that promote education, has been named Director of Annual Giving at Hudson Valley Community College Foundation.

Lanka will oversee charitable annual giving campaigns, including the college's Annual Fund, for the Foundation, a not-for-profit charitable corporation formed in 1983 to philanthropically support the college's mission.

Gifts to the Annual Fund are unrestricted revenue and allow the college to fund student scholarships, new academic initiatives, technology enhancements, program improvements and campus beautification at the largest undergraduate college in the Capital Region. In addition, Lanka will coordinate the colleges 14th Annual U.W. Marx, Inc. Golf Classic being held on Monday, July 21, 2008 at the Country Club of Troy.

Mr. Lanka comes to the college from his last job as Executive Director of The American College of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeons and the association's foundation where he had worked since 2002.

He received an MBA and an MS International Business from the University of Colorado Denver.

Hudson Valley Community College offers more than 70 associate's degree and certificate programs in four schools: Business; Engineering and Industrial Technologies; Health Sciences; and Liberal Arts and Sciences. One of 30 community colleges in the State University of New York system, Hudson Valley has an enrollment of more than 12,000 students, and is known as a leader in distance learning initiatives and workforce training. Hudson Valley has more than 60,000 alumni.
