Wynantskill Student Sarah Worden Honored at Hudson Valley Community College Photo Available

Sarah Worden of Wynantskill, a 2007 graduate of Hudson Valley Community College’s Individual Studies program, was recently honored by the college.

Worden, a former editor of the college newspaper, The Hudsonian, received several awards for her writing at the college’s Student Honors Convocation. She was given the English Department Four L Award, the Threads Writing Award, and the Eugenia M. Staerker Individual Studies Award

Worden also was one of six Hudson Valley graduates to receive the Chancellor’s Award for Student Excellence, one of the highest student honors awarded by the State University of New York.

This fall, she plans to attend The College of Saint Rose, where she hopes to continue writing and pursue a career in teaching.

Founded in 1953, Hudson Valley Community College offers more than 70 associate’s degree and certificate programs in four schools: Business; Engineering and Industrial Technologies; Health Science; and Liberal Arts and Sciences; and also sponsors an Educational Opportunity Center for academic and career training. One of 30 community colleges in the State University of New York system, it has an enrollment of more than 12,000 students, and is known as a leader in distance learning initiatives and workforce training. Hudson Valley has more than 60,000 alumni.
