Wynantskill Student Ninella Sorriento Honored by Hudson Valley Community College

Ninella Sorriento of Wynantskill, a 2007 graduate of Hudson Valley Community College’s Early Childhood program, was recently honored by the college.
Sorriento received the Award for Academic Excellence from her department. A high honor student, she was a member of Phi Theta Kappa, the national honor society for students at two-year college, and also was given the Joseph J. Bulmer Scholar Award for academic research.
A member of the Early Childhood Club, she was listed on the National Dean’s List and in Who’s Who Among Students in America’s Junior Colleges. She plans to pursue a bachelor’s degree in special education.
Founded in 1953, Hudson Valley Community College offers more than 70 associate’s degree and certificate programs in four schools: Business; Engineering and Industrial Technologies; Health Science; and Liberal Arts and Sciences; and also sponsors an Educational Opportunity Center for academic and career training. One of 30 community colleges in the State University of New York system, it has an enrollment of more than 12,000 students, and is known as a leader in distance learning initiatives and workforce training.
