Guilderland Student Michael Cantore Honored by Hudson Valley Community College Photo Available

Michael Cantore of Guilderland, a 2007 graduate of Hudson Valley Community College’s Mathematics and Engineering Science program, was recently honored by the college.

Cantore received three of the highest honors given by Hudson Valley’s Mathematics and Engineering Science program: the Mathematics and Science Award in Honor of Dale Bryant, the New York State Mathematics Association of Two Colleges Scholarship Award, and the RPI Award for Excellence.

He will be attending Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute this fall, majoring in physics. This summer he will be participating in the National Science Foundation’s Research Experience for undergraduate students studying physics. While at Hudson Valley Community College, he was a high honor student.

Founded in 1953, Hudson Valley Community College offers more than 70 associate’s degree and certificate programs in four schools: Business; Engineering and Industrial Technologies; Health Science; and Liberal Arts and Sciences; and also sponsors an Educational Opportunity Center for academic and career training. One of 30 community colleges in the State University of New York system, it has an enrollment of more than 12,000 students, and is known as a leader in distance learning initiatives and workforce training. Hudson Valley has more than 60,000 alumni.
