Hudson Valley Community College Names New Director of Grants Photo Available

Cheryl Beauchamp of Scotia has been named the director of grants at Hudson Valley Community College.

In that role, Beauchamp will play a key role in attracting alternative resources to the college and its charitable foundation by identifying and cultivating corporations, foundations and government entities that offer grants, as well as preparing and coordinating proposals to secure those grants. She also will work in partnership with faculty and staff across campus to coordinate development of proposals, conduct grant writing workshops on campus and monitor existing grants to ensure objectives are met.

Beauchamp comes to Hudson Valley from Planned Parenthood Mohawk Hudson, where she served as grants officer for 11 years. Prior to working for Planned Parenthood, she served as grants officer for the Albany Institute of History and Art.

She has a bachelor’s degree in creative writing from Fairleigh Dickinson University, a master’s degree in business administration from Russell Sage College and a graduate certificate in demography from the University at Albany.

Founded in 1953, Hudson Valley Community College offers more than 70 degree and certificate programs in four schools: Business; Engineering and Industrial Technologies; Health Sciences; and Liberal Arts and Sciences, as well as programs run through the Educational Opportunity Center offering certification programs in workforce and academic preparation. One of 30 community colleges in the State University of New York system, it has an enrollment of more than 12,000 students, and it is known as a leader in distance learning initiatives and worker retraining. Hudson Valley has more than 60,000 alumni.
