Assembly Member McEneny to Speak at Hudson Valley Community College on Educational Issues March 7

On Wednesday, March 7, 2001 at 7:30 p.m., Assembly Member John (Jack) McEneny will speak at Hudson Valley Community College on the topic of state and local politics and educational issues. The talk will take place in the Bulmer Telecommunications Center Auditorium located on the Hudson Valley campus at 80 Vandenburgh Ave., Troy. The event is free and open to the public. Jack McEneny may well be the only local office-holder who is best known as an author and historian. The Albany native is an assembly member from the 104th District, which consists of most of Albany and the towns of Berne, Guilderland, Knox and New Scotland. McEneny graduated with a B.A. in history from Siena College and holds certificates in Community Development from the New Mexico State University School of Agriculture and the Kennedy School of Government at Harvard University. He also served as a Peace Corps volunteer in Colombia, South America.

A frequent speaker at civic and cultural events and former Albany County Historian, McEneny wrote and narrated WMHT Public Television's Tricentennial Documentary on Albany. He is the author of Albany: Capital City on the Hudson.

Hudson Valley Community College, located in Troy, offers more than 50 degree and certificate programs in four academic divisions: Business; Engineering and Industrial Technologies; Health Science; and Liberal Arts and Sciences; and an Educational Opportunity Center for academic and career training. One of 30 community colleges in the State University of New York system, it has an enrollment of more than 9,000 students each year, and is known as a leader in distance learning initiatives and workforce training.
