Hudson Valley Community College has received some concrete support from a local business.

A ready-mix concrete delivery truck owned by Clemente Fane Concrete of Albany now sports the Hudson Valley logo and the college's tagline, "Directions for Life." Clemente Fane President Don Fane approached the college about the unique advertising initiative as a way to say thank you because his company, and its sister company, Callanan Industries Inc. of Albany, employ between 30 and 40 Hudson Valley graduates.

"It's great to know that Clemente Fane values its connection to Hudson Valley Community College and our alumni, and I'm proud that they have decided to showcase their relationship with us, and their support of us, in a very visible way," Hudson Valley President Andrew J. Matonak said.

Two other Clemente Fane trucks promote Siena College and the University at Albany.

"We have lots of graduates from these three colleges," said Fane, who also serves on the college's Board of Trustees. "We're doing this for community spirit."

Founded in 1953, Hudson Valley Community College offers more than 60 degree and certificate programs in four schools: Business; Engineering and Industrial Technologies; Health Sciences; and Liberal Arts and Sciences; and workforce and academic preparation programs offered through the Educational Opportunity Center. One of 30 community colleges in the State University of New York system, it has an enrollment of more than 12,000 students, and it is known as a leader in distance learning initiatives and worker retraining. Hudson Valley has more than 60,000 alumni.
