Delmar Resident Christina Garver Honored at Hudson Valley Community College

Christina Garver of Delmar, a 2006 graduate of the Hudson Valley Community College Nursing program, was recently honored by the college.
Garver received the Helen M. Slavin Award for Professionalism in Nursing. A Dean’s List student at Hudson Valley, she hopes to continue her education while working at Albany Medical Center.
Garver was named to Who’s Who Among Students at American Junior Colleges. She is a volunteer paramedic for the Delmar Fire Department. A volunteer in numerous other charities, she also was a member of the college’s Nursing Club.
Founded in 1953, Hudson Valley Community College offers more than 60 degree and certificate programs in four schools: Business; Engineering and Industrial Technologies; Health Science; and Liberal Arts and Sciences; and an Educational Opportunity Center for academic and career training. One of 30 community colleges in the State University of New York system, it has an enrollment of more than 12,000 students, and is known as a leader in distance learning initiatives and workforce training. Hudson Valley has more than 60,000 alumni.
