Four Hudson Valley Student-Athletes Cited by Region III

Region III recognized four Hudson Valley Community College student-athletes - Kim Wintergerst (Burnt Hills/Burnt Hills-Ballston Lake High School), Ashley Byerwalters (Coeymans Hollow/Ravena-Coeymans-Selkirk High School), Marissa Miller (Schodack/Maple Hill High School) and Mike Devoid (Berwick, ME/Noble High School) - on its Academic All-Region team. Student-athletes must have a minimum of a 3.5 grade point average and 46 credit hours to be nominated.
Miller was a Computer Information Systems major on the women’s soccer team. She led Hudson Valley in scoring in 2005 with six goals and two assists.
Devoid recently received his associate’s degree in Civil Engineering Technology. A standout on defense for the Vikings ice hockey team, Devoid finished the 2005-06 campaign with five goals and nine assists.
Beyerwalters was a leader at second base for the Hudson Valley softball team in 2006. A criminal Justice major, she batted .269 with 21 RBI for the Lady Vikings this past spring.
An Individual Studies major, Wintergerst was a two-sport athlete at Hudson Valley. She played No. 1 singles for the Hudson Valley tennis team, posting a 14-5 record. She also was a prominent member of the softball team.
