Hudson Valley Community College Instructor To Serve on American Heart Association's National Faculty

Bob Elling of Colonie, a faculty member in the Hudson Valley Community
College Institute for Pre-hospital Care, has been appointed as the
American Heart Association National Faculty Member for Basic Cardiac
Life Support in the New York region.
Elling will be the senior technical expert within his appointed
discipline and a conduit between local Emergency Cardiac Care (ECC)
committees and the national Emergency Cardiac Care staff.
An instructor for the Heart Association for the past 24 years, Elling
also will be responsible for providing leadership and program quality in
Basic Cardiac Life Support within the New York region.
The term of appointment is two years, with a maximum of two consecutive
Elling, the former program coordinator for the EMT-Paramedic program,
has been employed at Hudson Valley Community College since 1995. In
addition to teaching in the college's EMT and Paramedic programs, he is
currently a part-time paramedic for the Town of Colonie EMS Department,
as well as an author of numerous books on pre-hospital care.
Hudson Valley Community College offers more than 50 degree and
certification programs in four academic divisions: Liberal Arts and
Sciences; Engineering and Industrial Technologies; Health Sciences; and
Business; as well as programs run through the Educational Opportunity
Center offering certification programs in workforce and academic
preparation. One of 30 community colleges in the State University of New
York system, it has an annual enrollment of more than 9,000 students and
is known as a leader in distance learning initiatives and workforce
