Hudson Valley Community College will host an open house for its new pharmacy technician training program, from 11:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Monday, Nov. 7, at the college's Albany Extension Center at 175 Central Avenue.
CVS/Pharmacy has created a mock pharmacy at the Albany Extension Center and, in cooperation with the college, will offer a 96-hour credit-free course that is set to begin Tuesday, Nov. 15. The course will provide a foundation for those interested in becoming pharmacy technicians and is designed to prepare students for the National Pharmacy Technician Examination.
Pharmacy technicians prepare and package medications and also record and bill prescriptions in retail and hospital pharmacies. The position also requires careful attention to detail and excellent customer communication skills.
Additional pharmacy technician training courses are scheduled for the spring.
