Poestenkill Resident Stephen Houser Honored at Hudson Valley Community College

Stephen Houser of Poestenkill, a 2005 graduate of the Hudson Valley Community College Civil Engineering Technology program, was recently honored by the college.
He was honored with the Southworth Machinery Inc. Scholarship, which is given to an outstanding student in the Civil Engineering Technology program. Houser, a President's List and Dean's List student while attending the college, plans to continue his education in the civil engineering program at Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute.
He was a member of Tau Alpha Pi, the national honor society for engineering technology students at two-year colleges, and was named to the National Dean's List.
Founded in 1953, Hudson Valley Community College offers more than 60 degree and certificate programs in four schools: Business; Engineering and Industrial Technologies; Health Science; and Liberal Arts and Sciences; and an Educational Opportunity Center for academic and career training. One of 30 community colleges in the State University of New York system, it has an enrollment of more than 12,000 students, and is known as a leader in distance learning initiatives and workforce training.
