Maria Zemantauski Named Coordinator of Cultural Affairs at Hudson Valley Community College Photo Available

Maria Zemantauski of Troy has been hired as the coordinator of cultural affairs at Hudson Valley Community College.

In that position, Zemantauski is responsible for planning, scheduling and executing of cultural events at the college, which includes concerts, theatrical performances, and lectures.

A flamenco guitarist, Zemantauski has performed at colleges and universities nationwide. She also has served as an academic advisor at the University at Albany and an adjunct guitar instructor at Schenectady County Community College.

Zemantauski received a bachelor's degree in applied music from SUNY New Paltz and a master's degree in anthropology from the University at Albany.

Founded in 1953, Hudson Valley Community College offers more than 50 degree and certificate programs in four academic divisions: Business; Engineering and Industrial Technologies; Health Science; and Liberal Arts and Sciences; and an Educational Opportunity Center for academic and career training. One of 30 community colleges in the State University of New York system, it has an enrollment of more than 12,000 students, and is known as a leader in distance learning initiatives and workforce training. Hudson Valley has nearly 60,000 alumni.
