Hudson Valley Community College Names Marbot as New Accounting/Marketing Chair

Karen L. Marbot of Valley Falls has been named the chair of the Accounting and Marketing departments in Hudson Valley Community College's School of Business.
She has been a full-time faculty member at the college since 2001, and had served as interim department chair during the 2003-04 academic year. In her new position, Marbot also will oversee the college's Business Advisement Center. More than 1,500 students are enrolled in the School of Business, making it the second largest of Hudson Valley's four schools.
She has taught at Siena College and Russell Sage College. Her business experience includes five years as a trust business development officer, five years' experience as a conference and events planner, and 10 years of experience as a trust and estates attorney. She received her bachelor's degree and MBA from Russell Sage College, and her law degree from Albany Law School.
Founded in 1953, Hudson Valley Community College offers more than 50 degree and certification programs in four academic divisions: Liberal Arts and Sciences; Engineering and Industrial Technologies; Health Sciences; and Business; as well as programs run through the Educational Opportunity Center offering certification programs in workforce and academic preparation. One of 30 community colleges in the State University of New York system, it has an enrollment of more than 11,000 students, and it is known as a leader in distance learning initiatives and worker retraining. Hudson Valley has nearly 60,000 alumni.
