Cohoes Resident Yelana Cheban Honored With Dental Hygiene Awards at Hudson Valley Community College

Yelana Cheban of Cohoes, a 2004 graduate of the Hudson Valley Community College Dental Hygiene program, recently was honored by the college.
Cheban, an honors student, was awarded the Senior Professional Achievement Award, which is given to a graduating student who has shown outstanding professionalism. She also was the recipient of the Dental Hygiene Faculty Memorial Scholarship, which is given to outstanding students who have demonstrated a high grade point average, excellent clinical proficiency and financial need.
Founded in 1953, Hudson Valley Community College offers more than 50 degree and certificate programs in four academic divisions: Business; Engineering and Industrial Technologies; Health Science; and Liberal Arts and Sciences; and an Educational Opportunity Center for academic and career training. One of 30 community colleges in the State University of New York system, it has an enrollment of more than 11,000 students each year, and is known as a leader in distance learning initiatives and workforce training. The college has nearly 60,000 alumni.
